Vista Projects leader thrives in a sea of details
Rizwan, or “Riz” for those that know him, says cultivating meaningful relationships with clients is key to success at Vista Projects.
Born in Pakistan, Riz emigrated to Regina, Saskatchewan, when he was just two years old. At age 15, he moved to Port Hope, Ontario to attend boarding school. Riz loves music and spent many years studying the clarinet and the saxophone. He went on to earn a degree in biomedical engineering at the University of Toronto and completed a Chartered Financial Analyst designation while working at the Bank of Montreal.
After 10 years in the banking business, Riz decided to switch gears and try out a new job in the energy sector in Calgary. Riz started with Vista Projects in 2008 and hasn’t looked back since.
Riz is currently the Project Services Director at Vista Projects – a multi-discipline engineering and systems integration firm based in Calgary, Alberta. His team oversees cost control, scheduling, estimating, procurement, supplier quality, and document control functions.
When asked how Vista Projects persevered through the last two recessions when so many others failed, he simply said “versatility, agility and believing in the art of the possible.”
“Vista focuses on being client-centric and ensures clients have a clear line of sight on the outcomes…I think nimble execution and our focus on quality is our secret sauce,” says Hassan.
After 37 years and over 1,000 projects under its belt, Vista Projects has a lot of experience with nimble execution.
“Being agile, efficient and not getting bogged down in unimportant details helps our clients flourish,” says Riz. “Providing real-time feedback and having a deep technical understanding of the work is key to our success.”
Whether it’s in a music studio, at home with his children or in the boardroom, Riz continues to maintain a great rhythm with his friends, family, colleagues, and clients.
